Fox was banking high on both the financial success and reviews of the final chapter to the Wolverine saga, Logan. With a whopping 93% score on Rotten TomatoesLogan has become by far, the best reviewed film in the X-men franchise. This has had led Fox to push for an Oscar, which has been rumored for quite some time, by making sure it was the very first screener to arrive at voters homes as a “for your consideration” DVD. The American western-like drama, was one of the most bold and different super-hero adaptations ever made, rivaled only by Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight series .

Logan was directed and co-written by James Mangold with co-writers Scott Frank and Michael Green. The film starred Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Stephen Merchant, and Boyd Holbrook. Logan grossed over $616 million worldwide with only a $97 million budget, making it very profitable for Fox Studios.

Logan official synopsis: In the near future, a weary Logan (Hugh Jackman) cares for an ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) at a remote outpost on the Mexican border. His plan to hide from the outside world gets upended when he meets a young mutant (Dafne Keen) who is very much like him. Logan must now protect the girl and battle the dark forces that want to capture her.
